Endless beaches and İstranca Mountains
İğneada is surrounded by long sandy beaches, stretching more than fifteen kilometres starting from the end of the picturesque Cape in the north, to merge seamlessly in the south with the soft İstranca mountain slopes. Untouched nature wisely declared by the Turkish government a national park.
I encourage you to have a look at the beaches on Google Earth and you will be struck with the mere size. The impression is even stronger when you see everything in reality.
But the miracle does not end with the endless beaches. Directly from the beaches begin the picturesque slopes of the İstranca mountains, a protected area for biodiversity in Europe, with lots of endemic, relict and listed in the Red Book rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. Come in May to see the symbol of the area - İstranca zelenika (Rhododendron ponticum), which blooms with beautiful purple flowers.
